PeopleFish, a market research firm, wanted to optimize its speed of delivery for research projects. The company specializes in quick, ad hoc projects, so efficiency is particularly important to PeopleFish’s clients.
“Volume is what makes our company different from other market research firms,” said Nick Freiling, CEO at PeopleFish. “To bring value to our clients, projects need to move very quickly.”
“With the integration, anyone can easily input and launch a survey without ever having to log into the Lucid Marketplace.”
As PeopleFish continues to use it, they’re able to work with the Lucid Integrations team to create new efficiencies within the integration, such as tagging projects in specific ways.
To streamline PeopleFish’s project turnaround, Lucid developed a custom API integration for their HubSpot CRM. PeopleFish uses the CRM to log the projects they win, so connecting directly to Marketplace was an ideal approach.
“In the last two years, we’ve run over 700 surveys,” explained Freiling, “and each survey has a unique ID that has to be identical in the survey platform, HubSpot, our invoicing system, and in the Lucid Marketplace.”
Built by Lucid’s Platform Ops team, the integration has enabled the PeopleFish team to create surveys through Hubspot – once a deal is won, the survey is automatically piped into the Lucid Marketplace.
“The integration has essentially automated our project management,” Freiling said. “Now, when we create a project in HubSpot, it automatically has the same ID, which saves our team a great deal of time.”
This new feature has allowed the PeopleFish team to become more agile, without having to teach every team member how to run studies. For example, as PeopleFish expands its team, new hires do not necessarily need research experience.
“We can focus on hiring people who are sales or business development experts without having to teach them to build surveys,” Freiling commented. “With the integration, anyone can easily input and launch a survey without ever having to log into the Lucid Marketplace.”
Another benefit of the integration is its flexibility. As PeopleFish continues to use it, they’re able to work with the Lucid Integrations team to create new efficiencies within the integration, such as tagging projects in specific ways.
“The integration is constantly evolving, and we’ve added several new features to help make it more efficient,” added Freiling. “For example, we decided to set every project to ‘pre-screen’ instead of ‘complete,’ which wasn’t the way the integration was initially designed.”
In the past, adding new projects to the CRM required a significant amount of internal back-and-forth between the team. The integration has improved this process because the project can be tagged and named directly from the CRM, so the team can spend more time focusing on less menial tasks.
“With the integration, my team can respond to every inbound lead and create a project number and survey number,” said Freiling. “Then, in HubSpot, they can mark the project as ‘fielding,’ and when the invoice is paid, they can mark it as ‘paid.’ It’s streamlined the whole process.”
Thanks to the improved workflow, PeopleFish has seen a notable increase in their live projects and new clients. In the first half of this year alone, they have nearly doubled the number of projects completed in the entirety of last year.
“Our volume is way up,” commented Freiling, “While that may not be entirely attributed to the API integration, I can say that our method hasn’t changed. We’re doing exactly what we did last year – just a lot faster.”
