Lucid’s custom API integration optimizes the efficiency of Protobrand’s proprietary platform

The Challenge

Protobrand is a market research and brand consultancy with a strong focus on System 1 techniques. They wanted a way to optimize the efficiency of their proprietary platform, Meta4 Insight, which enables Protobrand to handle the programming, data analysis and some aspects of reporting of their studies. However, fielding was a missing piece of the platform.

“Efficiency was really the focus.” explained Karla Chavez Hernandez, Senior Research Manager & Analyst at Protobrand. “Historically, we used managed services because sample DIY tools weren’t as widely available as they are nowadays. Since then, we’ve tested a variety of platforms before arriving at Lucid. The Lucid offering was the best fit for our needs.”

Solution

Protobrand began running their studies through the Lucid Marketplace. Soon, they found that many of the studies they were running were well-suited for DIY project management – so they started a Lucid software subscription.

“We signed a software contract, and it motivated us to run studies using the Lucid Marketplace,” said Hernandez.“ It helped us to get more comfortable with the interface, and ultimately, we decided to proceed with a full integration.”

Lucid’s integration consultants worked closely with Protobrand’s tech team, including Hongyu Zhou, Sr. Technology Director, to develop a Marketplace API integration as well as UI design from product designer Sukanya Ray. The two teams worked together to ensure a seamless integration along every step of the process.

“Our tech team did an excellent job cooperating with Lucid on the build of this new integrated platform, and I know Lucid’s team was available and responsive anytime they had questions,” Hernandez continued. “They initiated a Slack channel with each other to ensure that our team received timely support whenever they needed it.”

Benefits

Once the API integration was completed, Protobrand was able to streamline their process and bring increased efficiency to their projects – and the Lucid team was an integral part of helping them reach this goal.

Before the API integration even began, Lucid’s customer success team helped educate Protobrand on the use of the Lucid Marketplace software.

“The support of the Lucid team has been a major contributor to making this a success. We appreciate their approach in explaining how the software would help us with overall cost savings and increased efficiency,” commented Hernandez.

Protobrand’s tech team worked in collaboration with the research team (including Protobrand Research Associate, Azka Siddiqui) to create customized features within the integration.

“Making sure the members of the team are able to communicate their feedback using the tool and understanding their pain points helps us understand areas of improvement,” said Hernandez. “A critical component of the success of the integration has been the ability to customize the platform to the user’s needs.”

“There was a high level of customization that our tech team was able to include, based on the research team member’s feedback as well as Lucid’s support,” continued Hernandez. “So, the integration is really tailored to suit our needs.”

Results

While the initial goal of the integration was to increase efficiency, Protobrand’s results have actually been two-fold, with regard to management and cost. Additionally, with the control provided by the Marketplace, their team has greater peace of mind when running and adjusting projects.

“All of our processes are now in one place within the Meta4 Insight platform. It gives us more ownership of the fieldwork process, as we don’t need to wait for a project manager to get back to us to close a quota or change fielding targets,” explained Hernandez. “We can do it ourselves with the click of a button.”

Furthermore, the Marketplace gives Protobrand significant control over the cost of their studies. Adjusting CPI not only allows them to be flexible when managing project budgets, but also enables an overall savings that helps improve their bottom line.

“It’s important for us to be adaptive, and with other sample DIY platforms we have tried, CPI tends to be static,” explained Hernandez. “With Lucid, the control is at our fingertips.”

“A critical component of the success of the integration has been the ability to customize the platform to the user’s needs.”
